Resort Summary

Greetham Valley is simply a superb venue for golfers to stay and play on a golf break in Rutland. With 45 glorious holes of golf, a welcoming Lounge Bar, superb food and a great choice of accommodation in the contemporary 3 Star Hotel, eco-friendly 4 Star Lodges or 4 Star holiday cottage, what more could a golfer wish for?

Since 1991 Greetham Valley has been carefully developed from traditional undulating farmland to create three diverse golf courses, each with their own unique challenges for every level of player. Greetham Valley is viewed by many as simply the best golf complex in Rutland and the East Midlands.

Just a few minutes from Rutland Water, Greetham Valley is the perfect venue for leisure, tourism, weddings and business in the East Midlands. Lakes, streams, woodland and a rolling scenic landscape of Rutland valleys and hills make Greetham Valley a beautiful leisure environment - truly a hidden gem in Rutlands crown.

The resorts strapline 'Beyond Expectations' perfectly captures the essence of Greetham Valley. As a family-run business, customer care comes naturally, but being able to over-deliver a leisure experience to so many golfers and clients is a real skill. Not surprisingly, Greetham Valley has a much higher than average number of repeat bookings, and it is well worth a visit.

Golf Courses

The Lakes Course
18 holes
6769y
6190m
Par 72
The Lakes course is the longest of Greetham Valleys two 18 hole championship courses at 6769 yards. The long wide fairways can favour the big hitter - but watch out for the water and bunkers. The par 3s on the Lakes course are very challenging, with lovely but deceptively tricky water features on each one. The signature holes on the Lakes are the par 3 10th and the par 4 18th, both right in front of the clubhouse. The course loops back to the Clubhouse and Halfway House after the ninth hole, ideal for refreshments part-way through your round.
Valley Course
18 holes
5595y
5116m
Par 68
Shorter and sweet sums up the Valley course! The 5595 yards of this picturesque par 68 course has some spectacular holes across the valley, notably the 3rd, with its elevated tee, the 16th with a 3 tiered green and the final flourish across a lake on the 18th. Perhaps the prettiest hole and the most testing is the 17th, a par 4 nestling on the floor of the valley, bordered on the left by a wooded hillside and on the right by the brook. But watch out for that lake next to the green! Although the shorter of the two main courses, the Valley is still very challenging and all parts of your game must be up to scratch. It has the longest par 5 on the entire complex and with water, sand and glorious views over this beautiful part of Rutland, this course offers a truly great eighteen holes of golf.
The Academy Course
9 holes
Par 27
The Academy course boasts 9 well designed par 3 holes and is ideal both for novices and for the experienced player trying to fine-tune his short game. Cunningly located bunkers lay in wait for the unwary and club selection for a tee shot is very much dependent upon ability.

Food and Drink

Delicious seasonal menus offer a wide range of choice and the restaurants enjoy panoramic views over the golf courses, lakes and valley. Everyone is welcome to dine at Greetham Valley.

The Lounge Bar is a large split level restaurant and lounge with a long well stocked bar and two walls of windows adjoining the large patio. Diners can choose from the lighter bites from the Lounge Bar menu or from the a la carte restaurant menu. Also available are the very popular daily Specials Board. Opening times from 7am last food orders 9pm.

The Valley Restaurant seats up to 40 diners who can enjoy the stunning views from the privileged elevated position of this lovely, light and airy Restaurant. Many local Luncheon Clubs have discovered the Valley Restaurant and the Sunday Lunch carvery is a renowned local must-do! Opening times from 12 noon last food orders 9pm.

The Lakeview Restaurant enjoys a prime elevated position overlooking the 10th and 18th tees, fairways and greens of the Lakes course and comfortably seats up to 70 guests. Why not drop in to enjoy a relaxed meal here or in the Valley Restaurant whilst watching the golfers drive off the tee below over the valley and lake. Opening times from 12 noon last food orders 9pm.

Visitors must try the Black Rock Grill menu, which allows for raw meat to be cooked at the dining table on an individual slab of volcanic rock, heated in a special oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Special mats with safety warning notices pre-warn diners of the impending heat about to be placed in front of them! The volcanic rock then allows them to cook their own food exactly to their requirements, and best of all, it is great theatre and a real treat for the diners.

Golf Tuition and Practice Facilities

Greetham Valleys Golf Academy offers one-to-one, duo and group lessons to novices, improvers and the occasional despairing low handicapper. Golf tuition breaks are available for all standards of golfer, with each break tailored to individual needs.

The Golf Academy's indoor tuition bay is part of the floodlit Driving Range, which also has 14 covered bays, 4 outdoor bays and a bunker practice area. Open 7 days a week to members and non-members alike.

State of the art range ball machinery dispenses baskets of range balls in various denominations. Users may purchase either a one-off PIN code from the Golf Shop or Reception to dispense one basket or may purchase a green Range Card to load with credit for even better value.

In addition, the contoured Putting Green enjoys one of the best views on the entire Greetham Valley complex, overlooking the valley, lakes and both 18th greens. It is ideal for tuition, practice and tweaking ones aim after three-putting to lose a match!
